DF Committee
From Span That World
Sometime in the 90s some DFs thought that they should make their own committee, in the same way that regions have committees or the wider folk has a general council. Seeing as it would work on behalf of DFs, representatives from each DF region were voted in. A few other enthusiastic people have become part of the comittee too, just by being enthusiastic it seems. The committee is there to organise things and the regional reps are able to let people in their region know what is happening. Over time more specific roles developed or were added to the committee at yearly Althings (mimicing the folks' Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) ). At some point we also aquired a constitution probably because we thought 'we really should have one of those...' though it was a bit of a mess.
In 2006 the constitution was updated to make it a bit less of a mess. There was also a motion in 2006 that called for a change in the structure of DF committee as it was seen by many as inneficient. At Althing 2007, after a year of considering and debating options for a new committee structure throughout the movement, the structure of DF committee changed. It decreased in size slightly, and regional reps were removed from committee and formed their own body of regional development workers with one of their number known as the regional rep rep (rrr) to be elected by the regional development workers to sit on DF ctte as a link between ctte and regional developers. possibly the main change though was that instead of electing all members as 'other positions', roles that it was felt required a specific skill or attitude to do, such as communications or campaigns are now elected from the floor of althing by the general movement rather than by ctte at Old/New.
Positions on committee are
- Elected from the floor of Althing:
Shadow Treasurer, Campaigns, Affiliations, Communications, fundraiser, projects
- Elected at old/new
Chair, vice chair, secretary, Events, Intergrations, International, Training
- + Regional rep rep
