What would you like to happen in your region?

We want to know what you think the role of the English regions should be within the Woodcraft Folk national movement. How can local groups be supported and how they can be involved in influencing the national agenda. In order to help us understand what we can do to make things better for everyone in the regions we need to get your views so please take a few minutes to complete this survey before the end of November 2009.type print map

At present the Woodcraft Folk in England is divided into 6 regions: Eastern, London, Midlands, Northern, South-East and South-West. Currently there are four active regional committees, in the East, South-East, South-West and London regions but only limited regional activity in the North and Midlands. These committees provide valuable support to local groups by sharing information and organising training and social events to bring groups together. However not all the regions have a committee or need to involve more people and so the central office applied for and was awarded funding for a project to widen participation in its democratic regional structures. The Regional Revitalisation project is funded by the Department of Children, Families and Schools for 2 years.

Some of the aims of the project are to:

  • Improve communication between the national organisation, regional

committees and districts so that feedback from the regions can inform

the development of national aims and policy

  • Help with the development of new groups and provide support to existing groups

  • Share good ideas and practice e.g. how to apply for funding, organise events, new education initiatives

  • Provide opportunities for working in partnership with other districts and regions as well as other organisations

We’d like to know what you think the role of regions is, what kind of support they should offer and how they should be organised. Are you happy with the current regional structure or do you think things should be organised in a different way e.g. at a much more local level. We want to make sure that this project is led from the bottom-up rather than the top-down so we need you to tell us how you want things to be in the future.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and help us understand what we can do to make things better for everyone in the regions. Here’s a link to the survey, please let us know what you think by Friday 27 November 2009.
