Right to Play
Enthusiastic? Interested in working with kids but not sure where to start? Already helping at group nights and looking for a new experience? Feel like building on your skills and learning some new games? Want to get involved with a well-established, fun Woodcraft project?
Well, Right to Play could be for you. Inspired by Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Right to Play is a Woodcraft peer-ed project for DFs/Kinsfolk who want to contribute to the movement, build up useful skills and have fun working with children.
But what is Article 31? Well, it is an important message that states…
“Every child has the right to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts.”
Obviously this is a message that we want to support and promote, and by participating you’ll get to work with young people and even get the chance to work with kids at Glastonbury Festival.
Up for it? To take part, you must…
(a) be over 16
(b) either have a Woodcraft CRB check or be pursuing one
(c) enjoy working with children
(d) be free between the 20th and 27th of June 2011
(f) be a member of woodcraft
…and (g) enjoy working in a group (of nice people)
Interested? Then email a.right.to.play@gmail.com with your name, number, email, date of birth, district/location and membership number. The deadline is the 14th of February (that’s right, Valentine’s day), so now is the time to get involved. There are a limited number of places, so get your name down to be in with a chance of participating in something exciting.
Blue Skies! x
