Regional Rep Weekend

Deep in the heart of the North East in a small town called Hexham, regional reps from across the country met up for a fun filled (and of course business filled) first EVER regional council meeting! After spending a thrilling day at an activity centre climbing up walls and jumping off sky high platforms (all in the name of team bonding of course) we got down to business and really got the ball rolling with what we all want to do in our regions.
A few exciting things that came out of it were as follows…
The Everyone plan:
An exciting new prospect for the future of the regional council. This idea involves getting a DF from every district to be the rep for that district, who would then communicate ideas and information to their region’s rep, who would then pass it on to the DF committee. It’s a way of having a nice steady flow of contact amongst all the DFs in all the districts and regions and makes communication a whole lot easier. If you think your district needs a point of contact and you’re interesting in volunteering for the role, get in touch with your regional rep today!
Events coming up soon:
We all had some exciting ideas for events that can be organised within our regions.
Welsh thing: For Freya, our wonderful Welsh Rep, there is of course Welsh thing, which is fast approaching – 19th and 20th June, so book now!
Height Gate Working Week: For Ruth Holtom, our North West rep, there is going to be a working weekend at our own Woodcraft Centre just above Hebden Bridge, good ol’ Height Gate! It will be a great to way to fix up the place and get everyone from the region together, and everyone’s welcome. Keep your ears peeled for more info about this soon.
Annual Gathering: we are going to try and run workshops for each region at AG so we can get an even better idea of what our regions want from us and we’re also going to take this to V camp in August.
So lots of exciting things came out of the weekend and we found time to make pancakes, watch doctor who and drink a hell of a lot of tea. Good times all round.
