The Bridges Project

Welcome to Bridges HQ!

Well, you’ve arrived at the site, so you must want to know what the project is all about! The Bridges Project is a triangular project between three members of the International Falcon Movement (click here to check out our international umbrella movement IFM) with the aim of working with young people and children within our movements to develop a critical understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to create an international network of partnership and exchange in which to develop our core Woodcraft principles of education and empowerment in what is arguably the one key issue within international politics of the modern era.

The project kicked off in June 2010 when 5 budding DFs headed out to Palestine and Israel and met with our IFM partners, the Independence Youth Union (Palestine), Hanoar Oved Vehalomed (Israel) and Hasomer Hatzair (Israel). Check out how these movements work by clicking on the IFM profiles link below.

The project is split into three parts. We aim to engage each movement involved in a workshop programme aiming to engage all young people in the issues of the conflict – an educational programme aimed at empowering young people to engage with the conflict in a personal way. Second, we aim to create a short film about IFM in the region and to use this as a longlasting tool of education.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the project is number three: we aim to create an international network to allow young people to visit the region on a regular basis as part of study trips, global exchange and volunteer programmes in order to use the IFM network to vision positive change through working in the region.
