Projects
PARTY – Party stands for Politically Active Revolutionary Thinking Youth! It is a brilliant project that helps members to get to the core of the politcal disputes within the Woodcraft Folk itself. You would think we all think the same as we share the same aims and principles of our organisation, but trust me there is a DIVERISTY of opionion over all age groups and DFs can get quite passionate when required to! We had a brilliant tent at Vcamp 2010 run by the lovely Ellen Robertson, Carah Hammond and Samir Rana which had workshops on everything from climate camp to the Spanish civil war and everything in between and The Hebden Bridge group ran some workshops at Co-Camp. We really want an amazing centre for V-Camp 2013 so… If you want to help out with this project and start getting people talking about the issues that matter then GET IN CONTACT!
MESTUP – Mestup has had a big year! Lots of people have trained up, helped out, and even participated in workshops and we intend to have just as big, if not BIGGER team for v-camp 2013! Mest-up is a project that gives mediation and peer education training to DFs to help them deal with issues and problems other woodcraft folk members have on camp and generally in the movement as a whole. We had a really successful centre at Co-Camp in 2011, with workshops ranging from Drugs trade wide games, to discussions on open-relationships and a cafe to a post-secrets ball pool! We had a team of about 20 and will be looking for new people to help out for venturer camp so, for information about training sessions, workshops and to get involved just contact me.
RAINBOW - Rainbow is a project that tackles issues of identity, sexuality and gender. The Rainbow Network looks to actively educate DFs in anything from coming out and sexism to intersex and queer theory. Informal workshops ensure that anyone can get involved, if you’re straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, confused or somewhere in the middle!
So where do you come into it? Whether you want to get involved with helping to run the Rainbow Network, facilitate a workshop, suggest a Rainbow campaign for us to focus on or anything else then please get in touch. Help to get Rainbow off the ground and into the sky!
If you’re wondering where to find us, we have a regular presence at DF events and at future national summer camps. We’re also hoping to run a Woodcraft Rainbow seminar in the near future. Plus, we get lots of opportunities to travel across Europe to learn lots of new Rainbow-orientated ideas and exchange ideas with people from both our mother organisation, IFM-SEI, and external Rainbow/ LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) organisations. Ask me or your International Rep(Imogen Smith) about these opportunities!
TURBINES – Turbines is a Project that was started by the amazing Phin Harper and Liam Hardy a few years ago but never quite got off the ground however me and Sian Leary, your sustainability rep plan to really get this going. So, if you fancy getting involved and helping us out with it, just get in touch!
YOUR PROJECT – WOO! This is the most amazing project of all. Basically, all the projects that are carrying on at the minute are very much a product of someones enthusiasm for the issue in the past. Now i cannot run all of the projects as i am not super-human but I can help facilitate individuals to get involved in the ones already created or, as this project suggests, start your own.
So. If you have anything from a small conker sized idea right up to a raging sea of passion for a project already fully developed then dont hesitate to get in contact with me and we can see what we can do. Remember no idea is too small.
