Ever thought “how can I get more involved in DFs without being part of DF Committee?” Well, one answer is posses.

Posses were created to allow broader participation. If there is something relevant to DFs that you would like to do, you can just get on with it, and ask for Committee’s support and/ or write a Project Fund Application (PFA –www.spanthatworld.com/resources/forms). But if you want to know about opportunities tailored to your interests, and have a pool of people into the same stuff as you, then join a posse.

Due to a motion passed by the Movement at Althing, there has been a posse reshuffle. Communications and Affiliations Remains the same, but the other two are now called Events, Fundraising and Assets, and Campaigns and Projects. This means that they can do things that they make more sense. So if any of these things sound interesting to you (and they include most of what DFs do), sign up now!

Posses are very flexible – what they do and how they are run in determined by their members. They communicate by egroup/ skype conference, meetings at events/ facebook – whatever suits them best.

The Events, Fundraising and Assets Posse

If you want to be involved in the organising of events or helping with what goes on during the event itself, then this is the posse for you. It is also about applying for grants, organising fundraising events, and looking after and getting the most out of our assets.

Communications and Affiliations Posse

This posse is for people who like talking to people and enjoy publicising. You can make designs for the website, leaflets or whatever you like, and help to disseminate information within and beyond the Movement. You can also build links with likeminded organisations, which includes inviting them to our events and advertising theirs.

Campaigns and Projects

These form the main basis of the programme at DF Events and the DF contribution to Woodcraft Folk Events. In some ways the can be said to be the spirit of the Movement. Being involved in them can be a way to help, educate and inspire people, and can have a great effect on society.

Due to the new motion, the Chairs of posses have been removed from committee. This means that an exciting new role has been created. Each posse is to vote for its Chair at Winter Wonderland.
