Spring Awakening
It Happened!
Spring Awakening 2013 may be over, but there’s always 2014 to look forward to.
Spring awakening is the “back to basics” DF event, where we camp in the slightly harsh weather of early April and do activities that are more reminiscant of what woodcraft would have been like before a lot of the changes to it and the world that have happened since it formed in 1924. Just what you do and how it is run is up to the organizers, and sometime in September 2012 the process will start again looking for the team to run Spring Awakening 2013. Here’s how it was run last time:
From March 31st to 4th April 2012 the DF movement emerged from its winter slumber and unleashed itself until upon the unsuspecting citizens of
rural Somerset.
The theme of Spring Awakening 2012 was MYTHS AND LEGENDS. We celebrated all things mythical and legendary, whilst keeping everything nice and DFy .
Dressing up Themes
Greeks/Aztecs/Gothic stuff/Arthurian or Fairy Tale stuff, It’s going to be cold so we recommended warm dressing up. Facepaint and fancy head gear made great editions to cosy jumpers.
Like every Spring Awakening there was be a strong ‘back to roots’ ideal and a nice Woodies atmosphere – plenty of workshops, campfire songs and games, with a break in the programme every now and then to do your own thing (for any of you slaving away at exam revision, there was a nice secluded spot to slave in).
