Althing?

The most powerful and important event of the DF Calendar. When we choose our campaigns, when we elect our committee, when we scheme and plan the shape of the movement, when we make every big decision for a whole year. Its like an AGM but a million times more engaging. Its more than a meeting – its a celebration of our work and an opportunity to really get to know one another. Its a lot of fun free from the messy sprawl of DF Camp or Winter Wonderland.

How does it work?

Every member of The District Fellows Movement who comes to Althing has the right to get their voice heard and to cast their vote on motions that can radically change the way we tick. Members can also stand for DF Committee and Regional Council or elect others. Finally anybody can bring motions for discussion at Althing proposing changes or improvements to our constitution and standing orders. Recent motions have changed the structure of committee, have changed the format of DF News from paper to e-mail, invented the Kinsfolk camp at the end of DF Camp 09.

Just write down you motion starting with “This DF Althing Believes” or “This DF Althing Instructs” and e-mail it through to secretary@spanthatworld.com – if you have any questions or want a bit of help feel free to get in touch  using the contact us page.

These activities range from co-operative games, orgainising events, workshops and discussions, and general socialising!

The DF movement also meets up on a national basis frequently, to hold both social, educational events and business events allowing everyone to be involved in the running of DF's...
