East THING
What is it? Things are the backbone of the District Fellows Movement. They are weekend residential events where DF committee (who are these people?.. check out the video below) meets with DFs to discuss the bits and pieces that make up the running of the movement. Not only is coming to a Thing a great way to get your voice heard and make the movement your own, but it’s also an ace opportunity to meet new people. The theme of East Thing will be THE FUTURE and will be buzzing with workshops on developing the Eastern Region, how DFs can get involved in Woodcraft Centre and MESTUP, discussions on the bits and bobs that make up DFs, a futuristic party, an EASTer egg hunt and campfire..
When is it? 12-14th March 2010
Where is it? Cottered Guide’s Centre. Cottered is a small picturesque village in Hertfordshire between Baldock and Stevenage. The centre was once a school and has a large hall for some hurly burly workshops and sleeping. There are five beds in “leader’s” rooms for a bit more privacy and also pitches outside for you outdoor folk (Cambridge Woodcraft Folk will fingers crossed be able to provide vangoes). Check it out on:

How do I get there? The closest train station is Baldock, from there we’ll be trying to sort out some ferrying system of minibuses and taxis. There will be also a minibus going down from Cambridge with equipment and the like.
How much will it cost? Your first Thing is absolutely FREE! For those of you who have attended a Thing before, the cost will be £10.
How do I book? Print a business event booking form from the spanthatworld.com website. Don’t forget to put down your estimated price of travel and your preferred sleeping arrangements. Then post it off with your payment to:
Bea Bottomley, 9 Humberstone Road, Cambridge, CB4 1JD, Cambs
