Direct your Democracy!

As a society and as individuals it can seem like our government has failed us, we constantly hear rhetoric about how we must make sacrifices to help our failing economy, and modern politics seem to be eroding every hallmark of a civilised, collective society, from the NHS to the right to education.
Over the last year, since the parliamentary coalition came into government without a clear mandate, they have attempted to bring through a mass of contentious and unpopular legislation, and unashamedly broken sincere and pivotal promises.
And what can we do?
A lot of DFs can’t vote, even when the issues in question could affect people their age more than anyone else and even when they can, it’s clear that in politics assurances mean very little. There can seem to be little point in participating with the political system when you can’t even trust the manifestos of the parties you’re voting for.
That’s why something more is needed. This year we’re running a campaign to direct our democracy. In the past it might have seemed that despite the strong and determined principles of DFs, the movement as a whole was bypassed by key events and was powerless to stop blatant attacks on everything we stood for, well not any more.
Direct your Democracy will be our campaign for an immediate reaction to the issues over the coming year that affect us the most, it will be a vibrant and fast paced campaign to give a voice to the voiceless, by direct action, political lobbying, rallying or any other means.
We need you!
Interested? In order to make sure we are able to react quickly and effectively to events over the next year we’ll need a resourceful and enthusiastic team of campaigners to facilitate the campaign on the ground, by vigilantly studying the media and politics to define targets, right down to organising protests and direct action.
This campaign will need to be the most active the movement have run yet, with immediate response to the most vital issues in modern government it will be a chance to use all the resources we, as an innovative movement, have available to us and to demonstrate the power of politically active youth!
