South West

Finn Mcarthy

Sup Teenlings!

I be commin’ at yer from sunny (at the time of writing, doubt will last..) Banbury and I be here to get you all enthused about your amazing regions! Woo!

Now this may sound controversial seeing as I’m on committee n’ all and with its current national-level-enthusiasm, but I’m all about districts me, yes-sir-ee! I’m all game for DFs to be doing district-level things like helping out at Elfin/Pioneer’s sessions, organising district events and just generally gettin’ down with the district! And I’m pretty I’m in the right position to preach about districts considering I’m Banbury’s District Coordinator and co-organised our last district camp! Get in there!

On a BYC (British Youth Council) level I’m in the perfect position to implement it considering:

  1. I work with children as a day job so can easily fulfil the ‘Youth’ section!

  2. As RepRep I’ll be able to pass all the information I acquire from BYC down into the regions by my wonderful Regional Developer team! Find out more about them here!

On a South West level (which clearly is the best region ;) ) is just a repeat of what I mention earlier about districts really.. But I’m planning on doing a spot of visiting this year so I may well call round to your DF group, be warned!

Oh and Falmouth.. watch this space. *Evil Grin*

Right, so, err, if you’ve got any query about SW, BYC, what’s happening in YOUR region or if you just want to have a good ol’ chit chat.. then I’m yer man! Drop me a line here. Awesome.

(Phew that was a lot to write (especially considering I’m writing this whilst being shaken around in a car!))

Span That World With Friendship

The District Fellows Movement is the 16-20 year old members of the co-operative educational youth charity, the woodcraft folk, whose ideology is based on the principles of equality, peace, social justice and co-operation, with an emphasis on the empowerment of young people.

DF meetings usually consist of a group of like minded individuals meeting up at a regular time and place (someone's house, or a pub for instance, or even a community hall if the group is large enough) and taking part in usual woodcraft activities. These activities range from co-operative games, orgainising events, workshops and discussions, and general socialising!

The DF movement also meets up on a national basis frequently, to hold both social, educational events and business events allowing everyone to be involved in the running of DF's...
