A New Kind of DF Event
Friends, the country is reeling from the aftermath of the general election. Times are interesting. Its tough to make out what’s round the corner. A fantastic Con-Dem step in a better direction? A miserable business as usual 5 year decent? Some people say everything’s changed – others reckon its the smallest change you can justify a big headline with.
We’re fed up with small change. If we’re lucky no Trident but another more “cost effective” nuclear nightmare. A referendum on the voting system giving our democracy a change to move from stone age to regular old archaic. Lib-Dems have won the right to abstain on nuclear power! The right to abstain ey? Another knock out blow for the democratic process there!
Tired of small change? We Make Our Own!

Blank Canvas is an organically organised weekend of workshops, networking and partying hosted by Woodcraft Folk. A forum for young activists from organisations across the country to skillshare, make friends and plan for the coming year.
The whole programme will be an epic collaboration, thick with variety. Everyone: organisation or individual is encouraged to bring something to the table. Blank Canvas will organise on principles of cooperation, consensus and equality whilst wrestling with issues ranging from climate chaos to capitalism as crisis, refugee rights to the rise of fascism and anything anyone brings to the agenda. Its a beautiful idea, an event where everybody there is both participant and producer – we’re fed up with small changes and believe its time to come together, to collaborate, to learn from each other and to create our own change.
Want to know more?
Well who can blame you!? All manner of progressive organisations, woodies and young people coming together for such a landmark fun event! To find out more visit the Blank Canvas page on the headers bar of SpanThatWorld.com
We Need Your Help!
We need to get the word out. Blank Canvas isn’t untill October but we are hoping to invite as many people as possible from as many organisations that want to come. We’ve kept the cost ultra low and we’ve got literally thousands of sexy flyers printed. We’re on facebook, Indymedia, Crabgrass, Junction 49 and so on. But as always what works best is word of mouth and personal contact.
If you work with or know of a group that would be interested why not ask them? Maybe a uni society you think are cool? Maybe a community group? A housing Co-Op? Some friends who help run the Leamington Peace Festival? Who knows who you know. Political drama company? Affinity group?
to get some resources just go to the Blank Canvas page and start the ball rolling near you.
