A DF Cook Book!

Another in the long list of ways to get involved in DFs without even leaving your house.

We all enjoy our food, but a lot of us would like some extra help in the kitchen department.

So, DFs would like to step in with a helping hand.

… a helping book.

Part one, Student Food:

Cheap, quick, sustainable food to keep your brain running smoothly for all that learning you’re paying for.

Here’s the plan. If you are a student (as many of us are, or will be), sent out into the cold, cold world to fend for yourself on an ever decreasing budget, we want to know how you get by. What are your tips for healthy, quick meals. And what’s the cheapest food to buy, where’s the cheapest place to buy it from. And where can I get organic tofu at 3 o’clock in the morning?

Part two: Camp Food:

Easy, healthy, cheap, vegan meals that everyone will enjoy, even in the rain.

As per the motion from Althing 2009 all DF food on Camps must be vegan, but additional bits like cheese or cream are welcome at the KPs discretion. This is because a vegan diet is more environmentally friendly and healthier (as long as it’s still well balanced). Anyone whose been a vegan at a carnivorous camp will understand the problem of living off salad and bread for a week, this will never happen at a DF event, we are lovely, inclusive people.

So, what delicious camp meals do you remember? If you can’t remember a recipe then can you remember your favourite ingredient? If you’ve been a KP before and have any of your recipes left they would be a great help, particularly is they have accurate quantities, and especially if these quantities can easily be sized up or down depending on the size of the camp.

• Tips and tricks for how to cook things well.

1. Food you think would work really well on camp but has never been tried!

2. Pictures and drawings of food you love.
